THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Hot Wok Restaurant Review:
Hot Wok's concept is founded in its build-your-own-stir-fry bar. Diners choose their own ingredients---veggies, meat or seafood---and then splash in any one of eight sauces and hand the creation to the chef, who adds heat. Rice or lo mein noodles are offered as sides; and, if you like it hot, fresh ginger and pepper sauces are also available. It's all very jolly and casual, and young children who don't know enough to enjoy spicy food can have bland noodles with meat. Those who eat out to avoid cooking can choose from a well-rounded Asian menu, too. One show-stopping dish is scallops in a black-bean sauce that pops with ginger, garlic and red onion. Vegetarians can leave the meat out of their stir-fry, or select the grilled eggplant made fiery with garlic, onions and peppers. Though Andy Tat has successfully built a family friendly restaurant, the do-it-yourself activities and festive mai tais make Hot Wok a giddy date spot as well.
