Il Gabbiano Restaurant Review:
Il Gabbiano has a spectacular setting where the Miami River meets Biscayne Bay. The proprietors are the original owners of NYC's Il Mulino and follow the same formula of freebies for each table. When seated, diners receive a large wedge of Parmigiano-Reggiano, cut from a huge wheel, garnished with sweet, thick balsamico; tomato bruschetta; rustic bread; and fried zucchini slivers, so be careful not to fill up. Then try the hefty veal chop with Gorgonzola mushroom cream sauce or porcini ravioli with Champagne and truffle cream sauce. There’s also seafood risotto, scampi fra’ diavolo and filet of beef in Barolo wine sauce. Pass on dessert (molten chocolate cake, tiramisu), but the wine list is impressive in size and breadth, offering French and Italian selections. At the end of the meal, a complimentary limoncello digestif is offered.
