Inn Season Cafe Restaurant Review:
This lace-curtained café has been serving its carefully crafted vegetarian and vegan as well as soy-, gluten- and wheat-free dishes for years. It’s no wonder, since chef-proprietor Thomas Lasher believes in using locally sourced and organic produce whenever possible. His experience in India has influenced his cuisine, which focuses on flavor as well as nutrition. The kosher certification and commitment to sustainability further reflect the restaurant's dedication to all that is healthy. The seasonal menu is augmented by daily specials, which we recommend; order the Peruvian blue potato cakes with Michigan pear chutney whenever possible. Phyllo (whole-wheat) filled with spinach, artichoke hearts and cashew purée served with a saffron-lemon sauce, and the gluten-free pesto-portobello pizza are not to be missed either. There's a long list of non-alcoholic beverages, including an array of teas, fruit smoothies and cider. The children's menu includes a stir-fry with rice; pizza; and grilled cheese on house-made, organic multigrain bread. Carryout is available.
