Jackson Fillmore Trattoria Restaurant Review:
Chef-owner Jack Kreitzman travels often to research regional Italian recipes, and his love of Italy is apparent in this highbrow Pacific Heights favorite. Because of the trattoria's diminutive size and Kreitzman's local following, it's best to go early and be prepared to wait with a glass of wine. Try the starter of carpaccio di zucchini, sliced zucchini topped with curls of pecorino cheese, a swirl of olive oil and toasted pecans, and then go for the entrée chicken O.O.A., a zesty preparation involving olive oil, caramelized onions and anchovies. Daily specials are a sure bet. The wine list offers reasonably priced Californian and Italian wines. Save a little room for a classic Italian dessert: affogato, zabaglione, tiramisu, gelato or house-baked biscotti.
