THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Jalapeno Jax Restaurant Review:
This is the restaurant for everyone who complains about the lack of decent Mexican fare in mainstream Miami. Thanks to Jalapeño Jax, city-dwellers have a destination for viable burritos, spot-on guacamole, authentic tortilla soup and the like. But this cantina offers more than just standard Tex-Mex stuff. The menu culls dishes from regional Mexico, ranging from cactus salad to budin Azteca (a sort of chicken-tortilla lasagna) to the best Baja-style deep-fried mahi mahi tacos topped with lip-burning coleslaw in town. And when the waiter says spicy, you can believe him. Go between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. daily---that includes weekends---and you can wash it all down with $3 beer, wine and margaritas ($10 for a pitcher of the tequila-based suds).
