Jasmin Thai Restaurant Restaurant Review:
Their numbers in the Medical Center area suggest that Thai restaurants are being prescribed by doctors, but Jasmin differs from its compatriots with its sweeter, more-mellow renditions of both classic and unique dishes. Translucent summer rolls are typical, with generous chunks of shrimp sharing space with shredded vegetables and rice noodles; the Thai roll is deep-fried and includes marinated chicken. Standard Thai soups also grace the menu, but the more unusual suki soup includes chicken, beef and calamari. Doctors in scrubs join savvy civilians in savoring the green papaya salad with tomatoes and dried shrimp; we also like the yum ta lay, a seafood salad with lettuce in a spicy house sauce. Gang keowan, a spicy green curry with chicken, brings to mind New England chowder---but with coconut milk. Vegetarian dishes include param pak, mixed vegetables and bean cake with peanut sauce. When the fruit is in season, conclude with the fresh mango with sticky rice.
