A little piece of the Lone Star State in Gramercy Park.
Javelina Restaurant Review:
It’s not that Javelina, a popular and trendy Tex-Mex spot in Gramercy Park, is bad; it’s just that Tex-Mex itself is hard to take seriously. The particularly noisy dining room crams with the bold and beautiful sipping margaritas and eating chunky guacamole. The menu is filled with food that may be familiar if you’ve been to Texas or eaten at a suburban Mexican chain restaurant anywhere in the country. Goopy bowls of queso, flavorless brisket tacos, and avocado-smeared chalupas accompanied by refried beans and rice on the side. House cocktails, particularly the smoky Negroni, can help wash away the mediocre dining experience.
