Johnny Sanchez Restaurant Review:
Popular TV chef Aaron Sanchez is behind this decidedly upscale Mexican restaurant, with Miles Landrem as chef de cuisine. Although the food is as good as anticipated, prices exceed the boundaries of traditional Mexican fare. Chicken enchiladas are slow cooked with mole sauce, while a quesadilla appetizer is prepared with wild mushrooms and roasted jalapeño peppers. The whipped Mexican chocolate dessert is not quite as exotic or sweet as it sounds, but the lime tres leches cake is worth the trip. Wines and cocktails are plentiful, but again, pricey. Dip your toe in the water by coming for happy hour, Sunday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. A border of windows along one full wall in this cavernous space faces the street. Chic, contemporary décor relies on multi-colored wooden chairs, eye-catching chandeliers and a mural depicting Mexican culture that fills one full wall.
