The Jolly Oyster Restaurant Review:
Former banker Mark Reynolds’ passion for sustainable seafood led him from the world of international finance to a food truck. The Jolly Oyster, which he founded with business associate Mark Venus, sells sweet Kumamoto and Pacific oysters, as well as Manila clams, from their tightly controlled farms in Baja California. The shellfish are shipped fresh to this stand at the San Buenaventura State Beach and Park. Bring a cooler and take the bivalves to go, or set up at one of the grills and picnic tables nearby. Guests are encouraged to bring an oyster knife and charcoal, but The Jolly Oyster does sell some supplies. And on weekends they’ll do the work for you, frying and baking the briny delights. They make a nice salad of mixed organic greens, too, and even a grass-fed burger. Beer and wine are allowed in the state park, so feel free to BYOB. There's also The Jolly Oyster Market in Torrance, which offers oysters and clams for shoppers to prepare at home.
