Kali’s Mezze in Fells Point boasts a coolly elegant décor. You can climb the curving ocean liner-style staircase to a more intimate upstairs dining room, but we like the first floor bar area for people-watching. Be aware that on popular dining-out nights, you may have to wait to be seated, even with a reservation. Meanwhile, the menu has a Mediterranean focus, and the kitchen has a wizardly way with seafood. All of its offerings are served in appetizer-size portions designed for mixing, sharing and, of course, experimenting. Select from vegetable, seafood and meat-poultry mezze. Order a few to begin the meal; if you’re as easily tempted as we are, you probably won’t stop there. Anything seafood is a best bet --- we recommend the tuna carpaccio, topped with red onions and shaved Parmesan. But the baby lamb chops are standouts, too, and vegetarians are well served with multiple choices.
