Kampai Sushi Bar Restaurant Review:
This longtime sushi restaurant has gone by many names over the years; it’s now part of the Kampai duo with a sister location in the Central West End. Many entrées have Korean influences --- the marinated, grilled short ribs with barbecue sauce is the tastiest example --- but the sushi is the biggest draw. In keeping with local trends, there are plenty of specialty rolls on the menu, led by the Kampai roll: deep-fried lobster tail with avocado and cucumber. Though purists may raise an eyebrow, free spirits will have fun with items like tuna with honey-wasabi sauce. Ditto for the fish-shaped, crispy ice cream sandwich dessert. Standard beers and wines serve the meal well. Also located at 4949 W. Pine Blvd., St. Louis, 314-367-2020.
