Kappo Sui Restaurant Review:
This Japanese pub devotes a fair-enough portion of its menu to sushi and sashimi. However, the real draw is kappo, little dishes created to complement beer and saké. Master chef/owner Shirai-san keeps a small English menu around for greenhorns, but the best dishes --- including miso-glazed filet mignon, grilled king mackerel, and steamed dumplings stuffed with crab meat --- are scribbled in Japanese on a blackboard. You’ll find a selection of boutique sakés and Japanese beer to mute the noise, which is considerable when the place teems with patrons in a celebratory mood.
