King's Hawaiian Bakery & Restaurant Restaurant Review:
Though the commercial bakery is most famous for the puffy sweet bread that is fried up for breakfast, it also creates enjoyable breakfast pastries, cookies and desserts. The adjacent restaurant serves Hawaiian and American favorites with starters like ahi poke, onion rings with a crust of macadamia nuts, and sliced and fried spam wrapped in rice and seaweed. Featured large plates include Hawaiian seafood soup with udon noodles, macadamia nut-crusted mahi mahi in a curry sauce, charbroiled and marinated huli huli chicken, and classic loco moco (a hamburger patty topped with eggs and brown gravy over steamed white rice). For dessert, try the strawberry napoleon or macadamia torte.
