THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Kith & Kin Restaurant Review:
Andrew Brochu, formerly of Alinea and Pops for Champagne, turns out seasonal, contemporary American fare that's both exciting and just familiar enough. Take, for example, the mushroom conserva, the pimento cheese spread and foie gras with strawberry preserves and brioche. Other options from the small but varied menu include buttermilk-fried chicken thighs, steamed grouper with favas, zucchini and bright Meyer lemon purée and grilled, milk-fed veal loin with potato gnocchi and English peas. Just as comfort-inducing (the restaurant’s name means “friends and family,” after all) is the space, done up in dark woods and earth tones with both a dining room and bar. The international wine list has plenty of by-the-glass options for under $10 as well as a selection of creative cocktails. There’s even a kids’ menu, complete with “ants on a log” and a peanut butter-banana sandwich on house-made bread.
