Koji Osakaya Restaurant Review:
Koji Osakaya’s menu runs the expected gamut, from sushi, curry and udon to tempura, teriyaki and ramen. One interesting addition is the Kansai-style dishes, which include boiled tofu, octopus dumplings and okono miyaki, a soft and custardy yam-based pancake. Palate-tempting specials, such as exotic green-lipped mussels, are always available. Or try the nabemono, a hot pot where guests cook Kobe beef, shiitake mushrooms and tofu in a seaweed-based broth right at their table. To top things off, there’s a nice lineup of Japanese beers and saké. Combo lunch and dinner menus offer good value. The downtown location is appropriate for a pre-theater or -concert dinner. Other locations are in Northeast and Southwest Portland.
