THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Kona Grill Restaurant Review:
This casual Scottsdale-born chain brings to Houston an inventive menu that blends Asian and island favorites with American standards. You can make a meal out of the appetizers, which range from sushi to Asian pot-stickers to Hawaiian-inflected choices like Kona calamari and sweet Maui tacos filled with blackened catfish or macadamia nut chicken. Sweet-chili-glazed salmon salad with somen noodles and seared sesame ahi salad with peanut vinaigrette are two great lunch choices if you want light seafood. But meat-and-potato guys can also find five-spice baby-back ribs served with Szechwan green beans; and the favorite, the Kona steak entrée that features Angus beef and white cheddar mashed potatoes. Line up at the sushi bar or stay inside the sleek contemporary dining room so you can gaze at the saltwater aquarium. Corral the kids out to the spacious covered patio and let them order from their own special menu, which includes a root beer float.
