Upper Westsiders like this cozy French bistro.
La Boite en Bois Restaurant Review:
This tiny room with plank-wood walls adorned with farm implements and landscape paintings has served substantial French provincial cooking since 1985, with such specialties as smoked salmon, a ragoût of snails with Roquefort and angel hair pasta, and warm garlic sausage with lentils. Entrées might include veal scaloppine with wild mushrooms and a Cognac sauce, roast duck with wild rice risotto and cranberry sauce, or scallops and shrimp with ginger. In addition to ordering à la carte, you can choose the $40 pre-theater prix-fixe dinner menu.
