La Conversation Restaurant Review:
This delightful café bakes pastries and breads, rich chocolate cakes, cookies and tartlettes. Breakfast is when La Conversation really shines, as neighbors pop in for french toast made with their fresh cinnamon-almond cream brioche, pumpkin pancakes or eggs Benedict, in which buttery croissants are substituted for English muffins. At lunch, sandwiches are prepared with fresh baguettes or focaccia and regulars pick from a long list of salads that includes a niçoise (with seared rare ahi), curry chicken and Greek. The storefront is decked out in Parisian flourishes, and is sufficiently charming despite its faux finishes and decorative clichés. Tables spill onto the sidewalk beneath an awning, perfect for lingering over a cup of espresso in this busy neighborhood filled with antique dealers and beauty salons. You’ll often see Hollywood celebs here, but the soul of the place is French.
