This booth-happy restaurant is full of photos of scenes from south-of-the-border movies. The food's availability has always been more of a draw than its quality. The complimentary pickled carrots, onions and peppers are piquant, crunchy and addictive. The menu item that wins repeat patronage is La Jaliciense's enormous, meal-sized burritos filled with steak, chicken or avocado. Most of the other Tex-Mex specialties, like the fajita platter or the enchiladas, can be hit or miss and are more expensive to boot. Breakfast standards such as huevos rancheros and migas are by no means gourmet, but after the clubs have closed, in the middle of the night, they are undeniably magnetic.
