THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED La Mora Cucina Toscana Restaurant Review:
A quaint homelike setting welcomes guests to this quiet, dimly lit enclave that is as much revered for its powers of romance as it is for its food. A rustic, earthy Tuscan entry and bar give way to a lovely arched dining room with beautiful French-glass windows and a view of an herb garden overgrown with fragrant basil. Homemade pastas are the high point of the menu. Try the cuscinetti (grilled veal pillows stuffed with mozzarella and prosciutto and topped with a garlic-herb butter sauce); the penne with an assortment of wild mushrooms; or a house favorite, mezze lune di pesce (half moon-shaped pasta stuffed with fish, shrimp and cheeses in a sweet pepper-wine sauce). Consider the braised lamb chop, served with spinach polenta; or the chicken breast, sautéed with artichokes in a white wine-lemon sauce. A spectacular seared tuna steak is braised with red wine, tomatoes, capers and olives, while a whole boned trout is grilled with fresh rosemary and lemon. For dessert, indulge in the classic tiramisu. Less filling is the pere al vino bianco, a poached pear with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and white chocolate shavings.
