La Salita Restaurant Restaurant Review:
La Salita, which means “the little parlor,” is one of the best traditional, home-style New Mexican restaurants in town; the food is consistent. Try the signature chiles rellenos, which are made fresh. In winter, the carne adovada --- lean pork marinated in red chile sauce and slowly baked until tender --- warms your belly, especially inside a sopaipilla. Good news for the health conscious: Turkey is a mainstay filling for many items (try the soup with Spanish rice), and both the red and the green chile are made without meat, so there are lots of vegetarian options as well. Better news for bottomless pits: The Grand Tomas gets you one of everything --- a cheese enchilada, a pork tamale, a chile relleno, a beef taco, and half a beef burrito.
