THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon Restaurant Review:

WE ARE SAD TO ANNOUNCE THAT CHEF JOEL ROBUCHON PASSED AWAY AUGUST 6, 2018. READ ANDRE GAYOT'S TRIBUTE TO THE CHEF OF THE CENTURY.

L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon is a more experimental counterpart to chef Joël Robuchon's eponymous restaurant, also located in the Hotel Michael in Resorts World Sentosa. This outlet, designed by Frenchman Pierre-Yves Rochon, who created the look of the first L’Atelier in Paris, feels vaguely Japanese in black and red, while the menu is more French with Asian touches. Sit around the raised bar with clear views into the shiny kitchen, where everyone appears completely focused on their mission (though this feels less so among the unreliable waitstaff). You can’t go wrong with any dish that lists foie gras among its ingredients, starting with the delicate pan-seared foie gras appetizer with apricots, rosemary and dates. Among the evening's specials, you might luck into the foie gras burger. Otherwise, foie gras pops up in the filled free-range quail with mashed potatoes. Sole with shimeji mushrooms and Chinese cabbage makes a good choice for waist-watching diners, while the steak tartare with old-fashioned french fries transports one's palate back to Paris. Weeknights only, diners may create their own four-, five- or six-course tasting menus, which we rather enjoyed, especially with the addition of the sommelier's selections, perhaps a Chateau de Fosse-Sèche Saumur "Arcane" 2009 from Loire, or a Franck Massard & Christophe Brunet Spanish Priorat "Huellas" from the same year. Finish off the meal with the creamy Araguani chocolate with cacao sorbet and homemade Oreo cookie.
