Le Petit Four Restaurant Review:
Let us be clear: French-born partners Robert and Alexandre are not trying to make Le Petit Four, in the heart of Sunset Plaza, an upscale restaurant. They simply want customers to feel comfortable and relaxed around the table with friends or family. Casual is their cuisine, too, gathering different styles from the California and French repertoires for appetizers such as a whole artichoke served in a light vinaigrette, mushroom ravioli, house-smoked salmon and a bevy of salads. To continue, there are a few pizzas, plenty of pastas, and main courses with offerings that range from rustic French like boudin noir (blood sausage), calf’s liver and steak au poivre, to typical California fare, maybe a shrimp quesadilla, Idaho trout and a roasted half chicken. Homemade desserts are presented on a platter, perhaps lemon tart, banana-chocolate mousse cake and coffee éclairs. A festive martini selection provides a good way to wind down (or gear up) with a pomegranate or espresso martini. The reasonably priced wine list and friendly service add to the charming atmosphere.
