Leonardo 706 Restaurant Review:
University of Florida alumni who've left town still dream of Gorgonzola chicken, Madagascar pasta and creamy, jalapeño-spiked agave pasta with chicken or shrimp from Leonardo 706. The Gainesville landmark, with its casual atmosphere and dressed-up eclectic Italian menu, reigns as the top spot for college students to bring visiting parents (that's particularly true if Mom and Dad are picking up the tab). We recommend the crispy, thin-crust pizzas with simple tomato and basil or more elaborate toppings. And the Caesar salad is actually worthy of the name, full of garlic and anchovies. The ever-changing Sunday brunch menu includes a limited, but first-rate, selection of omelets, Benedicts and other treats, all made to order. The only standing complaint about Leonardo's is the sometimes so-bored-to-see-you service.
