Lucca Back Bay Restaurant Review:
Lucca may resemble an urban steakhouse with its high ceilings and tony, masculine approach, but one look at the menu dispels any doubts, laden as it is with regional Italian classics. Creative cocktails are given names with local relevance: The Yarmouthport is a combination of cranberry and sea salt-infused vodkas with grapefruit juice; The Huntington is made with Maker’s Mark bourbon and pear juice. To start, share the generous plate of antipasti filled with meats and cheeses and Lucca’s unique take on the traditional Caesar salad composed with romaine, Parmesan dressing, focaccia croutons, anchovies and pickled shallots, topped with a deviled egg. For entrées, don’t miss the slow-roasted Bay of Fundy salmon with vegetable ragù, roasted chicken with Marsala chicken jus, and seared beef tenderloin with garlic porcini risotto. Finish with a sampling of artisan cheeses or go for the tiramisu. For some good deals, head to the bar for the dollar menu offered weeknights from 5 p.m.-7 p.m., or, go out on the town first and then come here to snack from the late-night menu.
