Lula Cucina Mexicana Restaurant Review:

We like Gerri Gilliland’s convivial dining room filled with colorful Mexican folk art and the bougainvillea-lined patio. We can also recommend the margaritas, especially served with fresh-made tortilla chips, tasty salsa and chunky guacamole. The menu features popular Mexican dishes along with more unusual specialties like duck sopes layered with tomatillo and chipotle sauce and cotija cheese, "pechuga de pollo" (chicken breast stuffed with goat cheese, topped with jalapeño pepper jelly glaze), and lobster tacos with spiced onions and creamy chipotle sauce. After 11:30 p.m., late-night tacos and tortas with a variety of fillings are available. Flan and churros are on order for dessert, or try the richer chocolate espresso brownie with chunks of white chocolate. If you need a stiff drink, ask to see the 175-possibility-strong tequila list. On Mexican holidays, Lula hosts all-female mariachi bands and flamenco dancers.
