LuMi Bar & Dining Restaurant Review:
Lumi means “small lights” in Italian, and this is played out in the restaurant’s illumination that give a fairy glow to the waterside dining space with glass doors, located just across the road from The Star Casino. Federico Zanellato is the chef, and his wife, Michela, is the sommelier and will match wines with dishes. Little wonder that nearby apartment-dwellers think of it as their “local,” but the rest of Sydney has discovered it too, so plan to book a table. Lunch offers a three-course dégustation menu of pasta-main-dessert, and a five-course dégustation menu. If you are lucky, the fennel pollen, rhubarb and coconut dessert may be available. An eight-course dégustation is presented every evening for dinner, and for Sunday lunch (but for other lunches only if booked at least 24 hours in advance). There is a full vegetarian menu, too. LuMi’s wine list boasts Italian labels and also global options.
