The scene at this socially responsible enterprise featuring chefs Art Smith and Tal Ronnen evokes the best in healthy California living, with herbs growing in hanging planters, reclaimed wood tables and a friendly communal area. Quick, satisfying dishes for breakfast, lunch or dinner verge on macrobiotic, with little sodium and no more than 600 calories each. Edamame hummus is a great starter, any of the seasonal salads are good bets and can be kept vegan or topped with meat or shrimp, and savory flatbreads deliver a tasteful alternative to greasy pizza. Main dishes include fish tacos as well as quinoa and farro grain bowls with vegetables and other ingredients, or flavorful plates of "unfried chicken."
