THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED M Cafe Restaurant Review:
From the innovative folks behind the high-end Chaya restaurants comes this edition of the mini-chain of M Cafés. Healthful macrobiotic-based dishes look and taste appealing to mainstream Angelenos, not just vegetarians and vegans. Among the offerings are vegetable inari sushi over brown rice and "The Big Macro," a whole-grain brown rice and veggie burger with lettuce, tofu cheese, pickles, onion and sprouts (which you can pair with some thin-cut organic fries with macro ketchup or spicy yuzu mayo). Desserts are sans egg, dairy and refined sugar, but are surprisingly satisfying. Breakfast specialties include scrambled tofu and smoked salmon Benedict with soy hollandaise. The Beverly Hills M Café led the chain’s introduction of value-oriented grab-and-go menu items like a smoked salmon bagel sandwich or soy yogurt with house-made granola and organic fruit preserves for breakfast, and assorted bento boxes for lunch. This Beverly Hills eatery’s bright yellow awning, gleaming refrigerator cases and white subway tiles provide a hip, laid-back vibe. Also located at 7119 Melrose Ave., West Hollywood, 323-525-0588.
