Macbar Restaurant Review:
Macaroni and cheese is the ultimate comfort food, so it makes sense that this restaurant comes from the same ownership as NoLIita's nouveau-diner Delicatessen. As one would expect, macaroni and cheese is the name of the game here. There are about 12 different varieties, all created by Michael Ferraro of Delicatessen. Among the options: lobster mac and cheese with Cognac, tarragon and mascarpone; Reuben mac with corned beef, pickled cabbage and Swiss; and the over the top "mac quack" with duck confit and caramelized onions. The overall effect is quite whimsical, right down to the mac-shaped bowls that the food arrives in. On the whole, Macbar is not a great option for the carb-phobic, but the restaurant's singular focus makes it, in a way, less scattered than its big brother down the street.
