Madrones Restaurant Review:
Frederick is replete with up-and-coming restaurants, and Madrones, located just outside of the city center, is one of them. At lunch, all the American fare patrons crave is here, from cheeseburgers and fish sandwiches to crab cakes, grilled chicken Caesar salad, and a dish called “Aporkalypse” with pulled pork, smoked ham and applewood-smoked bacon. Dinnertime expands the offerings to include calamari and Buffalo wings to start and assorted salads, seafood and pasta. If it’s available as an appetizer, order the goat cheese with crispy pita chips. If you stop by for Sunday brunch, the kitchen turns out “funky” monkey bread, stuffed french toast, and steak and eggs. Cocktails and happy hour drinks make this a community gathering place; it can get crowded, so make reservations. Take-out and curbside deals are options.
