Magic Lamp Lebanese Mediterranean Grill Restaurant Review:

This Belmont Shore restaurant provides an escape to the Middle East with authentic foods from throughout the region. Starters, or mezze, include falafel, sujuk (spicy Armenian sausage) and hummus that can be topped with chicken shwarma. Dishes made from certified Halal meats include kebabs with filet mignon, chicken or lamb. Seafood is also offered, in the form of salmon and shrimp kebabs, or grilled trout with a classic lemon-caper sauce. Specialties from around the Middle East are showcased, such as a beef kafta dumpling casserole from Syria and lamb kabsseh from Saudi Arabia. You'll find a few vegetarian-friendly plates as well, such as the batata harra (spicy potatoes sautéed with garlic, cilantro and chili). For dessert, try baklava topped with Nutella, kunefeh (pastry with sweet cheese and orange blossom) and chocolate mousse cake. The restaurant offers a small breakfast menu daily until 1 p.m., although it is only open during traditional breakfast hours Saturday and Sunday. The dining room features exotic Moorish design elements, and the crowd is often festive. A very reasonably priced wine list presents bottles and glasses from around the globe, including Lebanon.
