Mambo's Cafe Restaurant Review:
This Glendale restaurant has been serving authentic Cuban cooking for more than 20 years. With its checkered black tile floor and splashes of red paint, it has the look of an old-fashioned diner, and colorfully stocked flower boxes dress up the parking lot view for the tables that spill out in the front. It may not be haute design, but it’s quite an achievement when you consider this place was transformed from an abandoned gas station. Empanadas and creamy croquetas make good starters, and Cuban sandwiches are a popular item for a quick lunch. Chicken or beef milanesa, ropa vieja and roasted pork are among the favorites at Mambo’s. You’ll find some batidos (Cuban smoothies) in exotic Caribbean flavors like mamay and guanabana, and rice pudding or flan for dessert.
