THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Mare en Monti Restaurant Review:

Mare en Monti consistently turns out some of the best Italian fare in the crazy-for-Italian Gaslamp Quarter. We'd like this place even better if the décor were a bit more, well, decorative, but when the food arrives we focus our attention on our plates, anyway. The grilled portobello mushrooms and eggplant filled with pine nuts and raisins make superb starters, and among the many pastas we particularly remember fresh egg pasta in what may be the best sauce Bolognese in town. And then there are fragrant plates of osso buco, tender prosciutto-draped pizzas and fancy cakes cut in large wedges that nonetheless manage to disappear with all the rapidity of a magician's rabbit.
