Market Bistro Restaurant Review:
Seasonal Long Island fare is the key to this bistro in Jericho, where suppliers are proudly listed on the menu. Offerings change, but you might expect dishes such as pumpkin fritters with maple chipotle aïoli as an appetizer, or Crescent Farm duck poutine as a "small plate" main. Larger mains are also available, like the butternut squash and shrimp risotto or the pappardelle with coq au vin sauce. Desserts are in the same vein --- classic with a unique touch --- like the stuffed brownie with homemade marshmallows or the McIntosh apple crisp. The drinks menu is on par, with a selection of cocktails, wines and draught beers. Cocktails are distinctively crafted and designed, and include the Perfect Pear with goose pear, St-Germain, lemon and simple syrup, and the Bourbon Smash with bourbon, Grand Marnier, lime and agave. The wine list is notably devoid of any local bottles, but there is a fair selection of American and old-world names. Beers run the gamut from local to Belgian and German choices. Friendly, well-trained staff means that even when the rustic dining room is full to the rafters --- as it often is --- service is satisfactory and the ambience is welcoming.
