Matsumoto Shave Ice Restaurant Review:

Matsumoto's has been around for six decades, and it's one of the first places tourists visit on the North Shore. At peak hours, the line for shave ice goes out the door and down the street, so make sure you go early and avoid weekends, if possible. The ice is fine and packed in uniform mounds for a very photogenic product, particularly the Rainbow combo. While they offer many of the popular flavors that other shave ice spots have, we enjoy the island flavors such as lilikoi (passion fruit) and guava, which taste as if they were made with actual fruit. For a small extra charge, consider ordering your shaved ice with sweet adzuki beans or vanilla ice cream on the bottom, or a drizzle of condensed milk over the top.
