McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurant Restaurant Review:
McCormick & Schmick's at downtown's renovated Fountain Square is a prime spot for grabbing a drink after work or a pit stop before a ballgame. Polished wood furnishings and brass fittings are spiffy, but the more than 30 varieties of fresh fish and seafood, flown in daily from U.S. and international waters, are what make the place a real catch. The menu lists where seafood comes from, be it bay scallops from New Bedford, Massachusetts, yellowfin tuna from Panama City, Florida, or mahi mahi from Hilo, Hawaii. Oyster lovers have choices such as Island Gold, Kumamoto and Blue Point, shucked to order and served on the half shell. If you’re in the mood for beef, the filet mignon is tender and tasty, and the meatloaf with portobello gravy and mashed potatoes is comforting. For dessert, upside-down apple pie is paired with the local favorite Graeter's vanilla ice cream. Waitstaff takes your order the old-fashioned way: by memory. Cocktails are handcrafted in a time-honored method, using fresh-squeezed juices and no blenders. During happy hour, it's one of the only spots in town where you can get better-than-average fish tacos for $5 or seafood-stuffed mushrooms for $7.
