Sushi restaurants can usually be classified in two ways: the serious and reverent, or the wacky and fun. Ace Wasabi could captain the wacky and fun team. The young and attractive twenty-somethings crowd the front bar tables, waiting for a spot at the sushi bar or a table in the comfortable and casual back room. Waiting is half the fun, thanks to an extensive selection of Japanese beers, hot and cold sakés and kooky cocktails (such as the Marina Geisha made of saké, agave wine and muddled strawberries) meant to get everyone in a frivolous mood. The menu offers small plates, salads, sashimi and classic nigiri sushi as well as whimsical rolls such as the Ace Wasabi featuring fresh crab, barbecued eel, macadamia nuts and a smear of wasabi tobiko.
