Alfred's Steakhouse Restaurant Review:
This historic FiDi steakhouse's excellent representations of classic cocktails are highlighted by a quartet of Manhattans; lemon oil adds a refreshing note to vodka standards. Openers of meaty, chilled gulf prawns and bites of house pastrami on grilled bread with Dijon and pickle both feature bold horseradish. Savory oysters Rockefeller incorporate Scotch, creamed spinach and crisp pork belly. Mesquite-grilled, dry-aged steaks headline the menu, and are paired with five unique sauces and sides of creamy mascarpone mashed potatoes, asparagus with fried egg and pine nuts, and an herbaceous roasted bone marrow. We enjoyed the tableside showmanship involved in preparation of the house salad of romaine with Champagne vinegar and soft croutons, as well as the flaming bananas Foster.
