Ananda Fuara Restaurant Review:

In San Francisco, vegetarian restaurants run the gamut from those that are high-end with linen-topped tables to take-out counter storefronts, and everything in between. This sunny spot is unique in that it is run by the local sect of India's Sri Chinmoy religion. Servers wear brightly colored saris and a small TV in the back of the restaurant features footage of Chinmoy. Still, the tables are filled with a range of people from downtown business workers to the expected vegans. Lunch and dinner items include samosas with chutney, curries, pizza and salads. The signature dish is a brown rice-based meatloaf with mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy. This is a cash only restaurant. Also note that Ananda Fuara typically closes down the second and third weeks of April and the third and fourth weeks of August in observance of Sri Chinmoy ceremonies.
