Artie's Restaurant Review:
A Fairfax old-timer, Artie’s appeal lies with its ultra-casual dining room --- shorts are fine in hot weather --- and comprehensive menu. It has New England fare with its seafood and chowders, but a scan through the dinner selections turns up blue crab fritters coupled with Tex Mex egg rolls. In other words, Artie’s kitchen works hard to please every taste bud. If you can find it, order the crab and corn chowder, a triumph of East meeting West. As for entrées, you probably can’t go wrong with any of them: the hickory-smoked Black Angus rib-eye with loaded potatoes is a macho meal; lighter fare includes entrée salads, plain grilled fish, and grilled portobellos with goat cheese. Or opt for the hickory barbecue burger with cheddar and jack cheeses. Save room for the crème brûlée, deep-dish apple-pecan pie, or banana pudding, the house specialty and a towering heap of pudding and whipped cream with, of course, bananas.
