Avenue Grill Restaurant Review:

One of the cornerstones of Uptown's restaurant row, this classic American grill satisfies crowds of power-lunching professionals, hipsters and longtime locals. The merits here are many, starting with the sprawling back bar and the elbow-to-elbow cocktailers who call this home. Skilled barkeeps pour a textbook martini and brimming shots of spirits; the beer list includes craft brews and a proprietary amber. Push away from the bar and grab a cozy table in the dark wood and white tableclothed dining room. A few of the original dishes from the restaurant’s early years still appear on the menu, but the emphasis is on an ever-changing list of seasonal selections. Polished servers are attentive and bring forth herb-crusted Alamosa striped bass, grilled Colorado lamb chops in curried yogurt and braised bison glossed with a Thai barbecue sauce. Desserts are slightly old-school, but the crème brûlée is still the cream of the crop of its genre.
