A menu of Chinese, Japanese, Thai and other Asian fare is offered in a subdued yet stylish setting at Bambou. The emphasis is on inventive takes on classic street and comfort food. Regional standards are available, as well as inventive and sometimes quirky flavor combinations that nevertheless work. A duck salad with pineapple cucumber relish and Key lime chili dressing is savory yet refreshing, while a seafood shu mai, steamed and served with soy dipping sauce, is full of delicate seafood flavors. Specialty rolls include a soft and buttery toro scallion roll. A dragon roll --- California roll topped with eel, avocado and a sweet soy reduction --- is a favorite. Large plates such as chicken kazu and spicy stir-fried Singapore rice noodles with shrimp and scallops show the extensive scope of the restaurant's Asian culinary expertise.
