Bar Toscana Menu
The emphasis is on imbibing, but the food will compel you to plan a return visit to this cozy Brentwood lounge.
Bar Toscana Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant: Adjacent to Brentwood's almost-iconic Italian restaurant Toscana is the vibrant little sister lounge Bar Toscana. Here, the emphasis is on imbibing, naturally, but the food will compel you to plan a return visit. Whether you sit at the bar, the communal table by the entrance, or the tables of varying heights, expect to get friendly with fellow revelers in such close quarters. (The noise level can be high, but it's all part of the lively experience.)
Drinks: Classic cocktails and aperitivi (Negroni, Aperol Spritz) appear alongside rotating seasonal creations that incorporate ingredients like peach and lemongrass.
Likes: the drinks; pizzas; spaghetti.
Dislikes: the noise level.
Food: Meanwhile, the menu kicks off with small Italian plates such as an exemplary beef carpaccio with marinated artichokes, shaved pecorino and black truffles. Don’t be surprised if the delicious thin-crust pizzas disappear soon after delivery. Spaghetti may not be one of the house-made pastas, but the special we sampled was so deftly cooked that we can’t hold that against them. Heartier appetites can be satisfied by grilled seafood, veal chops and steaks. For dessert, indulge in the classic tiramisu. The wine list is small but quite select, including California boutique labels and choice Italian regional picks.
