Beer & Buns Restaurant Review:
Beer & Buns has a name that might suggest it’s in a less cosmopolitan setting. It’s not. Housed in the St. Giles Hotel - The Court, the restaurant and its name do not lie: beer (many of which are first-rate choices, such as Xingu from Brazil and Spain’s Estrella Galicia) and buns are the main events. Burgers lean toward the slider variety: the short rib “Seoul Secret” and the Japanese-inspired pork shoulder-laden “Southern Smack Down” are edible but often veer on the sweet side. “Bangkok Dangerous” is a fried shrimp between two patties and is underwhelming. If you’ve got $250 to spare, the “B&B Indulgence” burger is Kobe beef topped by foie gras and caviar. It’s not worth the price tag but at least you can brag that you’ve eaten one of the most expensive burgers in the Big Apple.
