Belle Epicurean Restaurant Review:
Carolyn Ferguson, who earned a Grand Diplome degree from Le Cordon Bleu Paris, used her skills to build a fan base. A sparkling display case overflowing with French treats such as croissants, brioche and quiche will initially catch your attention, but there is more here than meets the eye. In the morning, the dining room is perfumed with the fragrance of signature "puff" pancakes. These baked-to-order cousins to a Dutch Baby are filled with seasonal fruit. When the lunch hour arrives, the menu shifts to sandwiches and creative salads (French lentil is a favorite) along with flatbreads tasting as if they've been flown in from Alsace. A midday tea service includes a selection of feather light, pastel-colored macarons. It's tempting to linger in the pleasant, tranquil setting, especially on a drizzly Northwest afternoon. Also located at Madison Park, 3109 E. Madison St., Seattle, 206-466-1320.
