Bhan Thai Restaurant Review:
Located in a converted historic house in Midtown’s Central Gardens neighborhood, Bhan Thai has the feel of a private home. Friendly servers help boost the comfortable ambience. Dining areas are small and separated by the walls of the original rooms downstairs. When the weather is nice, the large outdoor patio, which is surrounded by trees and other vegetation, is the place to be. There’s even an outdoor bar to accommodate patio diners. Chef Sorrasit Sittranont’s cooking boasts authentic Thai flavors. Dishes are particularly saucy, but the sweet-spicy flavors tempt some diners to scoop up any leftover liquid with a spoon. All curries, like the popular panang curry, may be served with a choice of chicken, beef, pork or tofu. Most preparations contain fish sauce, so vegetarians should inquire about options upon ordering. The wine choices are decent, and Bhan Thai carries a nice selection of handcrafted beers. Those wishing to bring their own wine pay a small corkage fee. For dessert, try the sticky rice with custard and coconut milk.
