Bollywood Bistro Restaurant Review:
In its glamorized setting in the old part of Fairfax, this bistro may remind you of Indian film stars, but your focus should really be on the sumptuous contemporary Indian menu. Daring to step outside the norm of rogan josh and tandoori meats, Bollywood Bistro succeeds with such items as goat masala and lamb shank vindaloo, and even with starters like pan-fried calamari with fennel and a mustard chicken soup. But if you have an insatiable craving for hip cooking, plan your visit at lunchtime, when a bountiful buffet table will lure you back for many repeat platefuls. Maybe the fare is not as dazzling as the dishes on the menu, but the selection is varied, and besides, you can eat your fill for one flat price. Be sure, however, to order breads; otherwise, you’ll miss the date naan and the tomato-cheese naan. For dessert, we suggest the shahi tukra, or bread pudding, or the warm carrot halwa. Also located at 9853 Georgetown Pike, Great Falls, 703-865-0450.
