Among the many eateries on the Bonnie Brae strip, the iconic Bonnie Brae Tavern is the granddaddy of them all --- 81 years old and counting. The family-friendly menu features American cuisine, including juicy burgers, hearty meatloaf and pork chops with applesauce, as well as Mexican staples, many of them smothered with a notable green chile jolted with pronounced heat. Still, it’s the old-school pizzas that keep us waiting in line on any given night. Pies feature a thin and crunchy crust topped with dozens of meat and vegetable options. Craving Italian? We suggest the spaghetti and ravioli combo plate. Kids and grownups alike eat up the BBT’s retro aesthetics; adults will appreciate the vintage back bar and selection of spirits, wines and draft beers.
