Broadway 50-50 Menu
A high-toned honky-tonk boasting burgers, beer and bands and a clientele that spans the social spectrum.
Broadway 50-50 Restaurant Review:
The 50-50 can legitimately claim status as an haute honky-tonk --- and an anomaly in its high-toned Alamo Heights ’hood; wisely, new management has changed the place little. We still aren’t fooled by the bands, the bogus bad-boy attitude or the effigies of Elvis, and at lunch, especially, the service is almost endearingly offhand. Lunch is also less acoustically challenging than evening and our preferred time to sample burgers such as the El Jefe with pico de gallo and blue cheese --- or maybe the Chubbie dog slathered in house-made chili, cheese, and other enticements. We don’t recommend “Elvis’s Deviled Eggs”; they are prettily piped and dusted with paprika, but there is little underlying flavor. Lustier plates include Mia’s meatloaf and a humongous chicken-fried steak with the obligatory cream gravy. Cocktails run toward the vodka-with-everything sort, but there are numerous respectable beers to serve as burger buddies. Also located in the Colonnade off of I-10 W., 210-691-5050.
